Standing Tall Isn’t the Same as Standing True 009

There’s a tragic line early in 1 Samuel 15 that still echoes in our generation:

“Though you are little in your own eyes, are you not the head of the tribes of Israel?” (1 Sam 15:17)

Saul had the stature. Head and shoulders above everyone else.

And the title - anointed king by the prophet of God.

He even had some early wins under his belt.

But fear ran the show.

Fear of people, of failure and of losing control.

That fear slowly eroded his obedience.

By the time we reach the battle line in 1 Samuel 17—where Goliath mocks the armies of the living God—we find Saul frozen.

Not because he lacked authority. But because he lacked trust.

That’s what fear does.

It keeps us caged in lives that look strong… but are built on sand.

We MANAGE instead of obey; SELF-PROTECT instead of surrender and ACT like we’re in control—until the battle cries get loud.

Recently, our company has been asked to take on multiple high-risk, high-impact projects across the state.

My first instinct? Shrink. Pull back. “How-on-earth are we going to do this?”

But I’ve sat too long in the silence of morning not to know the answer by now.

Obedience is the call.

Not the outcome, nor the optics, nor the guarantee of success - just obedience.

Every time we say yes, God seems to show up.

Not with a roadmap. But with just enough clarity to keep moving(our daily bread)

Like David—still unseen, still tending sheep while giants shout—we’re being formed in the quiet.

But before David could rise, Saul had to fall

SAUL..HAS..TO..FALL

And Saul fell not because he was weak, but because he feared more than he trusted.

Where does fear still run your life?

Where are you still managing outcomes instead of obeying God’s voice?

Where are you tall on the outside, but shrinking inside?

This weekend, don’t give in to the whisper that says you need to have it all figured out.

Just say yes, stand up, step forward and let God write the rest!

Men formed for the fight are being gathered. Join us in the private group, “Formed to Serve.” We don’t posture—we prepare. We don’t chase—we obey. Link in comments.
